You are invited to take part in a research project being run by The Hawkins Institute, a specialist programme dedicated to better understanding lower limb pain in children. Before you decide whether to take part, you may find the following information helpful.
-
This research aims to understand how common lower limb and foot pain is in children, where and when it occurs, and whether family history plays a role. We want to explore patterns often labelled as “growing pains” and improve awareness and early care.
-
The study is led by The Hawkins Institute under the governance of Dr Charlotte Hawkins (PhD) MSc FRSM, a paediatric lower limb specialist with over 30 years of experience in children’s limb and gait development.
-
You will complete a short questionnaire (approx. 5- 10 minutes) about your child’s experience of leg or foot pain, its impact, and any relevant family history. You do not need to share any names or identifying information.
-
Yes. All answers are anonymous and confidential. No identifiable information will be collected unless you choose to share contact details for follow-up (optional).
-
No. Participation is entirely voluntary. You may skip any question, or withdraw at any point without giving a reason.
-
Your responses will be analysed to identify patterns, symptoms and informative data that will provide a wider understanding of childhood lower limb pain. Longterm the results may be used to inform future educational and clinical resources. Results may be published in academic journals or presented in schools or health forums, but no child or parent will ever be identified.
